Himalayan Wanderlust - A Yog Immersion with Shraddha Vora

Our Himalayan Wanderlust retreat was lead by Shraddha Vora (www.yogvedshala.com) in the quaint heritage home stay Mirage, in the small artist village of Andretta, Palampur, in Himachal Pradesh, India.

“Not all those who wander are Lost” : Immersed in yoga, silent walks, nature this retreat was a journey into ourselves.

We started most mornings at 6am, with an immersive three hour session with Shraddha. We learnt to sit still, basic meditation techniques, asana and proper alignment, the correct way to breathe and how to make the mind, body, soul connect, while practicing asana on the mat. The sacred space, our Yoga Shala at Mirage, was surrounded by trees and the sounds of nature and transporting us to go deeper inwards.

We revisit our favourite memories from the last few days. A short outing to the nearby Buddhist Palpung Sherabling Monastery, giving us an opportunity to wander and experience the humble town of Bir. Participating in a mandala-making workshop with French artist Eloudie, a resident of Andretta, helping us rediscover the artists within us. Trekking silently through the fields of Andretta, forest bathing our way back to our mats.

We drank scrumptious smoothies, fresh juices, and ate home cooked meals with farm fresh ingredients.

Evening sessions with Shraddha began with a discussion on the history of yog; yog philosophy; the 8 limbs of yog; basics of ayurveda and then a restorative session of asanas.

Mirage is a heritage homestay, run by Denis and his lovely staff was the perfect setting for gathering our yoga tribe. Settled in Andretta, a historic artists’ colony, the Mirage is a perfect place to rest and be enriched. The tranquility of the area is palpable, as since many decades, artists, writers and poets have retreated there to contemplate the deeper aspects of life.

It was a well deserved time of rest, rejuvenation, learning and living the discipline of yog and getting started on our journeys towards stillness, balance and equanimity.

We would like to thank our our yoga tribe for their collective vibrations created on these last 6 days. Kyo Spaces wishes everyone the best and our intention and hope is that they can take the good energies and small, simple changes back into their daily lives.
